Get Involved
As an all-volunteer organization, the Innocence Project of Iowa welcomes offers of assistance from individuals and organizations.
Attorneys
Our cases are handled by a network of attorneys who have expressed a willingness to represent persons with viable claims of actual innocence on a pro bono basis. Attorneys accepting Project cases will have the support of the Project and assistance from other Project volunteers. Interested attorneys should fill out our volunteer attorney application.
Law Students
Law students may apply to work with the Project on a volunteer basis. In addition, for-credit internships may be available to students from the Drake University Law School and the University of Iowa College of Law. Students will work with a supervising attorney to investigate, research, and prepare a Project case. Interested students can fill out our law student volunteer application.
Professors
We welcome the involvement of academics from a wide range of disciplines related to wrongful conviction issues, as well as the opportunity to collaborate with academic programs around the state. Academics interested in becoming involved with the project can complete our volunteer application for academics.
Other Volunteers
If you are willing to share skills or expertise that could be useful to the Innocence Project of Iowa (ie, investigations, fundraising, administrative, scientific, policy work) please fill out our general volunteer application.
