Get Involved

As an all-volunteer organization, the Innocence Project of Iowa welcomes offers of assistance from individuals and organizations.

Attorneys

Our cases are handled by a network of attorneys who have expressed a willingness to represent persons with viable claims of actual innocence on a pro bono basis. Attorneys accepting Project cases will have the support of the Project and assistance from other Project volunteers. Interested attorneys should fill out our volunteer attorney application.

Students

Student volunteers form the backbone of the Project.  The Project has worked closely with the following institutions and programs: Iowa Lakes Community College (Paralegal program); Buena Vista University (Criminology program); University of Iowa College of Law (volunteers through Citizen Lawyer Program); and Drake University School Law School (Legislative Practice Center).  If your school is interested in establishing a relationship with the Project, please contact us.

Professors

We welcome the involvement of academics from a wide range of disciplines related to wrongful conviction issues, as well as the opportunity to collaborate with academic programs around the state. Academics interested in becoming involved with the project can complete our volunteer application for academics or contact us to discuss collaboration opportunities.
